Crustless Pizza

While recently traveling in Italy, it was all about the Pasta and the Pizza. But back at home, I try to replicate these dishes with less gluten. Here’s a crustless Pizza dish that hits the spot!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 lb ground sausage or pork

  • 1 teaspoon Italian or Pizza seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 2 tablespoons pizza sauce

  • 2 oz green bell pepper

  • 4 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded

  • 4 oz cheddar cheese, shredded

  • 14 slices pepperoni

  • 1/2 cup Hale Bone Broth (heated)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cook meat. In a cast-iron or oven-proof skillet, brown and crumble the ground sausage or pork until cooked through ~5-6 minutes.

  2. Add seasoning and sauce. Once the ground meat is cooked through, stir in Italian seasonings, garlic powder, salt, pizza sauce and 1/2 cup Hale Bone Broth.

  3. Cook vegetables. Push the meat off to the sides of the skillet, then add bell pepper or other vegetables that need to be cooked into the center. Cook until softened, then stir into the rest of the ground meat. Remove from heat.

  4. Add remaining toppings and cheese. Sprinkle most of the shredded cheese blend evenly on top of the ground meat layer. Top with pepperoni slices or other toppings. Then sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.

  5. Broil. Place skillet in the oven under the broiler on high for 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Enjoy!
